Upcoming Seminar | Hybrid Working during Menopause

1–2 minutes

Speaker – Dr Katy Marsh-Davies

Katy is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management for Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University. Her research explores identity, with a focus on gender and flexible working practices. She is the Identity Track Chair for the British Academy of Management Conference. During the pandemic Katy was a peri-menopausal mother of a preschool child. Whilst interviewing teachers working from home she found that some were finding remote working beneficial in their menopause experience. Katy has written for Schools Week, The Conversation, and the journal Gender, Work & Organisation. Her first book, about teachers’ professional lives, is forthcoming from Routledge. Katy is the Chair of the Hallam Menopause Network and runs workshops for employers about menopause and work.

Theme

Dr Katy Marsh-Davies will present the findings of her research which explored the experiences of professional services employees working in a hybrid mode (i.e. a mix of home and office based work) whilst experiencing menopause. She found examples of how menopause symptoms were both alleviated and aggravated by hybrid working and considers the implications for workers and employers.

The seminar will take place online via zoom on Thursday June 15th, 15:00 – 16:00 (GMT+1). As with all our talks in this seminar series, it’s FREE for anyone to join! Register to attend the seminar here.
